Power distribution is an essential part of any lighting, video or audio system. Each circuit must be equipped with an earth leakage circuit breaker. Since the introduction of LED fixtures, we have to deal with power surges at start-up, so choosing the right distribution system is extremely important. After all, power distribution systems are the hidden forces in numerous locations such as theatres, nightclubs, lecture halls, music venues, TV and film studios and religious institutions.

Design

The look and feel of the LSC APS and LSC PowerPoint are almost identical. Both power distribution units have the characteristic and familiar look, known by many LSC customers. The front panels of the 19 inch models are almost identical. The PowerPoint has a main switch and phase indicators. The APS version is distinguished by a touchscreen on which information about the current and voltage is displayed. The PowerPoint can only be operated manually, while the APS can be controlled via DMX and RDM. In addition to the 19-inch versions, wallmount versions are also available for easy mounting in a distribution cabinet. The wallmount version is equipped with a hinge system. This allows the technician to easily reach the connections.

Features

The PowerPoint and the APS are available in several variants:

  • 12 x 10A
  • 12 x 16A
  • 6 x 25A

There are various available connectors:

  • Schuko
  • HAN16 (pinning 1-2 or pinning 1-9)
  • Socapex
  • Screw terminals (hardwired)
  • Powercons

Multiple APS units can be connected to each other via DMX ports and thus cascaded. It is possible to set a sequence number per unit. This allows the groups to start up one by one. Furthermore the internal contacts have zero crossing to prevent power surges.

Features

The APS has several features on board which can be accessed via the touchscreen:

  • Start up when DMX is available.
  • Shutting down in case of no DMX, whether or not linked to a delay time.
  • Main switch function by connecting pin 1 and 4.
  • Showing an overview of the power consumption per phase.

In contrast to the APS, the PowerPoint is equipped with a 4-pole mains input switch with Neutral Disconnect. Both units have one earth leakage circuit breaker per output channel.

Construction

The functionality of a power distribution system is extremely important, as well as its solidity and sustainability. LSC products are well thought out and designed within a clear philosophy that has been proven over the past years. LSC dimmers of at least 20 years old are still touring around the world!

Sustainability

It is always wise to turn off the power to an installation that is no longer being used. Not only does this increase the lifespan of internal components such as fans and power supplies, it also significantly reduces power consumption. By using the APS as the intelligent and central power distributor within an installation, all connected devices are automatically switched off within a few minutes after DMX at the input of the APS is dropped.

The Powerpoint must be operated manually, the user determines the amount of saving.

Overview

The design of the APS and the PowerPoint are equal. The end result is the same, but with its smart features like zero crossing and programmable functions, the APS takes a lot of work out of your hands. The APS is frequently used for fixed installations.  The PowerPoint is used for temporary installations and events.
